Pediatric endocrinologist, PhD, leader of the Centre of Obesity Research and Innovation (CORI), with more than 15 years’ experience in obesity research and clinic with emphasis on childhood obesity. Her research interests cover a broad specter including clinical research, health service research and obesity prevention. She is also strongly involved in research communication, and education at medical school and the master program Obesity and Health through her position as associate professor at NTNU.

Research leader ObeCe, Researcher/PhD, nurse

Magnus has many years of experience in clinical studies from ObeCe and as a leader of the Research Centre at St. Olav University Hospital. His scientific interests emerge from bedside problems, preferentially research questions on unintended and following effects of bariatric surgery. His studies have focused on the development of addiction, drug absorption and changes in oral health after bariatric surgery. He also cares about teaching patients and communicating new research regarding this field.

Christian is a social anthropology and quantitative methods professor at the Institute of Psychology, NTNU. At ObeCe, he supervises statistical analyses, e.g. in register studies. He also contributes to the strategic development of the research centre, as well as to studies concerning behaviour and behavioural modification.

Research Coordinator/MSc

Monica works within health promotion and preventive public health, focusing on preventing type 2 diabetes. She also contributes to developing public health services conjointly with primary and specialist health services. Monica is responsible for knowledge exchange between different levels of health service, including the bedside educational dietetics webpage Kostverktoyet.no (The Diet Tool).

Specialist physiotherapist/MSc

Marte works both at the Childhood Obesity Out-patient Clinic and at ObeCe. She has more than 15 years of experience with investigating and treating children and adolescents with obesity, and she has contributed to several of the Centre’s research and developmental projects. She mainly focuses on treatment interventions for children and adolescents and the integration of competence into the primary health service. In 2016-2017, she led the municipal roll-out of treatment for families with overweight at the Healthy Life Centres in Trondheim. Marte also contributes to the development of Kostverktøyet.no.

Hege took part in establishing the Obesity Outpatient Clinic from 2008-2011. Ever since she has worked as a research coordinator for the rehabilitation centres and drug and self-initiated studies at ObeCe. In her Master's Thesis, she worked on changes in cognitive function after bariatric surgery.

Professor dr. Med.

Bård was the leader of ObeCe until the autumn of 2022. He has over 25 years of experience in research, clinical endocrinology, and obesity treatment.

Sissel has postgraduate training in diabetic care and health pedagogics and a Master’s Thesis in Health Science and Obesity. She has obtained 20 years of experience in collaborative studies with the medical industry, mainly in diabetic treatment.

Researcher/Ph.D., Gastrointestinal surgeon and consultant

Jorunn researches long-term effects after obesity surgery. She is head of the Bariatic Surgery Observation Study (BAROBS), which investigates the effects 10-15 years after gastric bypass and gastric sleeve. She is a specialist in gastrointestinal surgery and works as a consultant at the Surgical Department in Ålesund Hospital and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Health Science at NTNU Ålesund.

Forsker, PhD

Ellen is a medical anthropologist with a Ph.D. in childhood obesity. She works with qualitative research within medical and social scientific studies concerning overweight and obesity. She has also researched social inequity in health, preventive care, diabetes and patients’ perspectives on novel treatments.

Researcher, Ph.D., nurse

Ingrid works as a researcher at ObeCe and an Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical and Molecular Medicine at NTNU, teaching at the Master’s programme in Obesity and Health. Her research mainly concerns obesity within public health and preventing obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus in primary healthcare. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methods in her scientific work.

Tanja has her PhD in Science and Technology Studies at the Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies at NTNU. She has been working with Food Regulation and the consequences of food policies. In ObeCe, Tanya does qualitative research, heading projects on food culture, diet and nutrition for persons with disabilities, rural and urban diet differences, and overweight and obesity from a public health perspective.

Researcher, Ph.D. student, Consultant

Åsne is a consultant in Family Medicine and has worked as a consultant at the Obesity Out-patient clinic since 2016. She has worked with research projects on pharmaceutical and surgical treatment of obesity, like the BAROBS study and healthcare tools in HelsaMi. Åsne started her Ph.D. training in 2023.

Ph.D. Student/Medical dietician, MSc

Tove has been working with families with children with overweight since 2006, and her experience includes specialist and primary healthcare (St Olav Hospital and Trondheim municipality). She has been affiliated with ObeCe since 2014 as a project leader and developer of www.kostverktoyet.no. She started her PhD training in 2021, working on how knowledge of body image can improve treatment for children with overweight.

Researcher/Ph.D., Medical dietician

Research advisor in Helse Nord-Trøndelag Trust, KLINFORSK and researcher at ObeCe. Siren is a medical dietician with a Ph.D. in obesity and metabolism and a postdoctor at Helse Nord-Trøndelag Trust. Her expertise is in clinical intervention studies for weight reduction. She is also investigating obesity, lipoedema and appetite, and how to reduce weight increase after obesity surgery. She is frequently in the local and national news, and she also supervises studies in their work in clinical studies.
