Clinic of rehabilitation

The clinic of rehabilitation will provide services to the patient throughout the patient's course in the specialist health service; from early rehabilitation after acute admission to specialized rehabilitation for chronic conditions.

Central to the treatment is the idea of the whole person. This requires an individual physical, mental and social approach throughout the rehabilitation process. The clinic works interdisciplinary to meet the patient's needs for rehabilitation.

Early rehabilitation

The clinic offers services in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, clinical nutrition physiology, speech therapy and social worker assistance. We serve fourteen of the health company's twenty clinics - both for inpatients and outpatients, and patients living at home via ambulatory teams and/or digital tools.
In addition, we run a comprehensive training offer for patients and relatives through the clinic's Learning and Coping Centre.

Specialized rehabilitation

We offer specialized rehabilitation for people with spinal cord injuries and acquired brain damage.
Our multidisciplinary outpatient clinic has back, neck and shoulder rehabilitation as its main field, as well as regional responsibility for the diagnosis of Ehler-Danlos Syndrome (EDS).

The clinic collaborates on the operation of the National Competence Service for Exercise as Medicine, together with the Clinic for Cardiac Medicine, the Clinic for Thoracic Surgery, the Clinic for Pulmonary and Occupational Medicine, the Surgical Clinic, the Department of Circulation and Imaging and CERG, NTNU.

Research

The clinic shall, to the greatest extent possible, carry out its clinical activities based on evidence-based medicine and knowledge-based practice. As a university clinic, the R&D activity must be a central and integrated part of the business. Research is ongoing at all times through projects, doctoral and master's theses.
