Are you a non-Norwegian citizen looking to work at St. Olav’s Hospital?

At St. Olav’s Hospital, you will be part of a culture renowned for its excellence in research and innovation.

We are therefore always looking for the most qualified professionals, regardless of nationality. We currently employ approximately 11,000 individuals from around the world, and we hope you will consider joining us.

Norwegian Language Proficiency

All our employees must have sufficient knowledge of Norwegian to ensure good communication and safe execution of their tasks. The specific language requirements will vary depending on the role.

General Requirements for All Employees:

  • Valid Norwegian authorisation for positions where this is required.
  • Valid Norwegian police certificate for positions involving work with children or individuals with intellectual disabilities, where applicable. 
  • Security clearance for positions where required.
  • Documentation of required vaccination.

If you are a Scandinavian/Nordic citizen, you must also:

  • Register your residence with the National Registry
  • Provide a copy of your passport
  • Submit an A1 form*

If you are an EU/EEA citizen, you must

  • Provide a copy of your passport
  • Submit an A1 form*

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, you must:

  • Hold a valid residence permit
  • Provide a copy of your passport
  • Submit an A1 form*

*A1 form (membership in the National Insurance Scheme): This form must be obtained by the employee (excluding students) from the social security office in their home country or via nav.no. If the individual is not a member of the national insurance scheme in their home country, they must provide written confirmation of this to the payroll and accounting department. It is essential that this is obtained before starting employment.

All EU/EEA citizens intending to reside in Norway for more than three months are required to register with the police (The Service Centre for Foreign Workers | SUA). Applicants are responsible for booking an appointment via udi.no.

Citizens of Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, and Finland are not required to register with the police but must report their move to the National Registry.

Tax cards and D-numbers are issued by The Norwegian Tax Administration. EU/EEA citizens may receive these on the same day as their registration certificate, provided the correct forms are completed and submitted to the Tax Administration.
