Advisory Units

National Units

The term national unit in the specialist health services is a common term for national/bi-regional units for treatment units and advisory units.

National units consist of highly specialized treatment and/or advisory that should be centralized to one or two institutions in the country in order to be able to provide high quality units and advisory. Here below you can see the Norwegian National Units at St. Olavs hospital.

National treatment units

  • National unit for fetal medicine
  • Photophoresis treatment ( photo-cheemical treatment in dermatological disorders and in post-transplantation patients)

Bi-regional treatment units

  • Neonatal surgery for inherited malformations
  • Deep Brain Stimulation
