General practioner

All residents in Norway - including asylum seekers - are entitled to and may have a GP. The GP works in the primary health care services in the municipalities.

In case of emergency and acute illness

The GP is responsible for all general medical tasks for their patients within the working hours.

In case of acute illness outside the GP's working hours you must call:

Phone 116 117 - the casualty ward (public medical ward) or
Phone 1 1 3 – emergency
